I don't have kids but my parents make sure we get chores done.

I don't have children, but if I did, yes they certainly would have chores. Chores teach children that you don't get something for nothing!

Of course, my kids have chores, as doing chores can let them understand that the way of having money is not easy and get the social experience.

Okay, I have to admit that my daughter does not have chores and to be honest, I know it has been a mistake.

My friend has made her daughter do chores since she was very small, too small in my opinion, and I felt sorry for her. On her 8th birthday, she was made to wash the dishes after her own birthday party - even though her friends were still there, and I think that was a step too far!

Maybe I took that to heart a little too much, and now I wish I had made my own daughter do chores. Although it's never too late to start giving her chores, I prefer that she sees what needs doing and offers to help, but sadly that is generally not the case.

I think it is important for children to have chores, but not to the extent that it gets in the way of them being a kid. If they have lots of homework one night, or have a friend visiting, I think they should be excused for that time.

I was never made to do chores as a child, but hope I didn't take what I had for granted either.
