You shouldn't. No members of the genus equus like being waxed. A normal grooming similar to that for a pony is all that is required, remembering of course the donkey hair is coarser and a little greasier than that of a horse. Washing donkeys too often will remove the grease and thus the donkey's "weatherproofing".
