Is Japanese Anime Porn Or Simply High Quality Animated Entertainment?

Oh well, was hoping for more answers... Guess I'll close it before it's timed out...
 Thank you to those that gave their opinions... I just thought I'd see what responses I'd get...
 To understate things in a very big way, I am a bit conversant with Japanese animation (anime), and I posted this question because I have heard these comments, and often find people mention that I "should see my adult anime collection.." when they learn that I like anime...
 Well, that's an understatement... I don't 'like' anime, I am rather fanatical about it... I watch some every day, without fail, I have anime I've transcoded anime to play on my PSP, my desktop on my laptop is based on an anime series, I both download, and buy DVDs of anime, and mostly have to avoid talking about it with other people, so to avoid driving them nutty with all the anime talk... Heh.
 And my collection? Less than 1/10th of 1% could be considered 'adult' in nature... I just don't like hentai that much.
 So to answer my own question, anime is simply beautiful animated entertainment at it's best, and just as boring or annoying as American animated shows at it's worst... It certainly is NOT pornography, even though there ARE pornographic examples of anime... So if you have never seen any anime (that you are aware of... Many people don't realize they have seen anime... They just thought it was american animation, since it had been translated) but are willing to watch animated programs that may surprise you with the depth of storytelling, and some often phenominal art, go online and look around... You should be able to get some good recommendations, as well as places you can watch some, and give it a try... You may be surprised...

My, I have yet to hear such absurd comments from anyone. One must know that they cannot make such derogatory comments with no evidence supporting their claim. I veiw anime as magnificent work from from a great country, nothing less(this is coming from a big anime fan). I would like to see strong evidence for their reasoning for I believe it to be an impossible task. As to where you have come across these arbitrary crititcs who seek nothing but to put down something they do not understand,(or simply do not like) it is beyond me. Can one truly differentiate anime in a negative way and veiw it as pestiferous? It is sad to see one divest the greatness that is anime.

I see very little anime which I would deem pornographic...  There is a great body of suggestive anime that I consider to be a fascinating art form.   Great art evokes emotion, and the mechanism by which this erotica triggers the psychological responses it evokes (via this nuvo form) is intriguing.  Personally, I have a thing for Erin Esurance, although she is not technically "anime"...

Anime can not be considered pornographic, because is not!, anime is just the name for the whole japanese animation, and hentai is just one little part of it, there's shonen, shoujo, kodomo, and many more...

I'm working on an extenden essay called "Anime from another point of view" and I have learned k a lot about the theme.

Anime is just tv shows from Japan. NOT porn I've talked to people from Japan and, anime is concidered just tv dramas in Japan as much as we consider any thing live action as a drama. Porn in Japan exists, but majority of anime shown to adults and teens is not pornographic. It's more just too graphic for kids at best.

Anime is for everyone, if it entertains you go for it

While you are absolutely right that anime is all but porn and vice versta, you're a bit off on your figures. Hentai, while it has an incredible amount of unknown titles, makes up at least 40% of japanese animation. The even bigger amount of anime makes up for this though, and because hentai is getting harder to find everyday, it does seem like hentai is only a very small part of the anime culture.
