Absolutely. People with drinking problems do not really care about anything but the alcohol. Everything else is just scenery. Everyone else is just scenery. They are selfish, self centered people who are unreliable and insensitive. This affects everyone that cares for this person. It causes family rifts, resentments, embarrassment, financial problems and more. This definitely affects family and friends. I can tell you this, as a recovering alcoholic, who after 10 years of sobriety is finally getting back my family and good friends, who gave up on me so very long ago. I know about the selfish and self centered part, first hand. Be Blessed, my friend, and I hope you don't have any alcoholics in your immediate family. If you do, I recommend Al Anon, which is a support group for the family and friends of alcoholics. Good Luck!

I think it effects family because lets say if your parents are drinking and you see them drinking you might think that it's cool and maybe if your parents are drunk, they can harass you and tell you "here have some". And if you don't take it they might yell at you.

It effects friends because if your friend sees someone drinking that person would bother you and be like drink this and its called peer pressure and most kids or teens are put through peer pressure just because they don't do what others told them to do because they are scared or maybe they feel so embarrassed.
