I know most people don't end up being what they want to be when they grow up and I know just how fortunate I have been to have become all THREE of the things I wanted to become. I wanted to be a soldier, a police officer and a firefighter.

I started volunteering as a firefighter … Read more

Knitting baby clothes and advanced calculus?  Definitely!

Um, no.  I do know how to knit , though not professionally, and the calculus thing... I'd rather teach how to mix great margaritas! :-)

OK. Seriously?  I would love to teach people how to auto-analyse and get to know their true selves, discover their skills and potential to … Read more

It would have to be something pretty awful like the zombie apocalypse since I smelled enough tear gas to last a lifetime while I was stationed in Seoul, South Korea for back to back tours. Unlike me, they'd riot almost daily over every little imaginary slight like the United States wanting to make them our … Read more

So impressionism is pretty impressive? That cracked me up! My wife loves impressionism and while I also enjoy the painting from that time period what I think is more impressive is something like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo. When someone using paint based on an egg while painting by candlelight standing on … Read more

What most people miss about the hobbit movies is that they are not based on the book alone. Tolkien rewrote the original book several times as well as having written something like a dozen appendices and the movies include some things found in the appendices. Peter Jackson is often times blamed for rewriting the story … Read more

I wasn't expecting much either and was pleasantly surprised that it was better then my low expectations warranted. Russell Crowe did seem miscast as Javert from his singing ability or lack thereof, but I thought he brought some strength to his part in other ways I didn't see in the musical (Germany & USA).

I live in Germany right outside Frankfurt and it's wonderful here. Why? Frankfurt International airport is a 30 minute drive and Frankfurt's train station is a central hub for all of Europe so if I want to go somewhere I don't have too far to go to get a ride.  If I choose to drive, … Read more

I'm not convinced a "problem free life" would build that level of character in people, Kass. Some of the most giving people I know have traveled a path none of us would choose for ourselves if we were given a choice while alternatively those people I know with a sense of entitlement seemingly have had … Read more

I don't think Blurtit needs to show 'up-votes' and 'thanks', as if you're following a lot of people, and you can see everything they've up-voted or thanked, then your feed is going to get clogged up very quickly.

I've had this happen a few times myself when I've been working in a certain category. I'll find … Read more
