Yes, I try to do that every year. They usually have it around Thanksgiving.
Yep. My school also holds a food drive at the local supermarkets and I've participated in that too.
At one company I worked for, when we would have "food days", we would collect money for our Food Bank. It was mostly a sales office and a lot of back-office support staff. So, the sales folks would come in at lunch - see the food day - want to participate but didn't bring anything.
I set up a fishbowl for donations so they could eat and donate at the same time. Once they found out I would be sending the money to the Food Bank, out came the $20's. Once the company found out that I was sending to the Food Bank, they began to match the donations.
At Thanksgiving, we were able to give over $600. That felt AWESOME!
