There are ups and downs in every relationship because no two people are ever the same. We all have different thoughts and feelings and often they can conflict with our partners thoughts and feelings. So arguments occur and it can cause heartache for a while but generally things soon get back on track again.

You cannot expect to have a straight forward relationship with anyone. A relationship which has not had any down points yet is not really a true relationship. That sounds strange but it is true. If you care about someone you try to protect them and that cna lead to arguments. Getting jealous shows that you care and that can often be a big problem in relationships.

Overall there are ups and downs in every relationship and it is normal and healthy.

In any relationship at all, involving two or more people, there are bound to be ups as well as downs at every turn.
The reason may be that the people involved are definitely individuals, with their own views and feelings about everything. These views may not be the same as the other persons' and this is where the stress comes in. Stress can undermine a relationship. If one is mature enough to handle stress within a relationship and overcome the hurdles that it places, then there will be more ups than downs. However, if one or both the partners are immature, and cannot handle tension within the relationship, there is bound to be more misunderstanding, leading to a down period.
It all depends on how the partners are able to tackle the downs, and the ups, and maintain a stable balance between the two.
Carrying on a relationship is not easy at all; one has to work hard toward it.

Any relationship is made up of two entirely different personalities and it would be impossible to agree on everything in life.

Some couples have fewer ups and downs than others because their needs and interests might be so similar. Other people clash because although they have a firm foundation for the relationship they can agree on many aspects of life together. Some people say they thrive on the ups and downs , others find it distressing.

Ups and downs can be caused by stresses and pressures such as children, finances, work, relationship breakdowns. What is OK for one couple might be a disaster for another.
It's when there are too many downs the relationship starts to suffer.
