First love can only turn into true love by years of constant sacrifice on BOTH parties.

"Constant sacrifice" ??? That doesn't sound like what I have come me to understand love.
Granted there is some level of sacrifices to be made but .. there should also be compromise and elation. In fact, There should be more smiles than tears.

Thankyou .. I'm thinking it's that kind of love that is the most common in terms of relationships .. not including dysfunctional relationships. Dysfunctional love sounds more like more tears than smiles.

There are no hard and fast rules. Sometimes a first love sticks, sometimes it doesn't. As Walt pointed out "first love" is usually just infatuation. The trouble is that, at the time, we don't have enough experience to make the judgment -- and puppy love feels very real to the puppy.

"First love" is seldom more than a crush, or physical attraction.

"True Love" ONLY develops over time, by going through trials with the person and coming out stronger.

No .. It is not. Real and true romantic  love is a process. It is something that is tested and fortified over time.

At my 20th high school reunion a group of us were talking about their first loves in high school. Once everyone graduated and moved on and away from them and perspective, they realized that first love was often a bigger struggle than it needed to be. It actually taught them what they didn't want in a life time partner. By the time the 20 years had past we all were married to someone better than that first love.

I am not saying that a first love can't be an only love, but it is extremely rare.

No, there are all kinds of love.

And generally speaking, you don't find love, you achieve it with another person.
