I have an aunt that's 94 and still living on her own in California. She does, of course, have family that's nearby that comes to help her.

Well Dear Austin Jones at the age of (almost) 72 I have myself narrowly escaped that designation...saved only by a cousin who is just a bit older, we grew up almost as sisters...

Cousin Dianne is like me an unconventional free spirit, but on the family farm in Eastern Washington she expresses that differently from me. And I am SO thankful that she has been willing to take on the mantle of family matriarch, shepherding all the younger generations and just calling on me when needed or to keep me informed.

Dianne and I also carry the memory of the family now gone, many of whom lived into their nineties and even hundreds...Aunt Laura we just lost in 2004, almost 106 years of age.

I have a cousin that is in his late 70's. The last of her generation in my family died last year at 90 years old. It's now up to my generation to stretch the years.
