How do people end up having friends with benefits? How do you propose to someone about being friends with benefits without sounding like an idiot or it being embarrassing .me and yes we both like each other so that's not my problem.

Well in essence what you are saying is "I like you but not enough to date you, but would like to use you for sex until I meet someone better."

If you don't know ... You aren't ready for it.  Simple as that.

If you can't handle a normal relationship - you are in NO WAY ready for the complications of "friends with benefits".

SuperFly Original - Basiically, it's someone who you're friends with, have sex with, but there's no other type of relationship between you and the other person. You may hang around with the person and do other stuff, but there's no other attachment.

Sounds like a fantasy that does not exist. Have you met one person who has actually had anything close to that? as I see it you have 2 choices: You wait till the time is right and ask (but you dont know when its right so its a gamble) . You make a move when it "Feels right" another gamble. Based off how all females have a personality unique to them, Its impossible to know....

I've had a few ... and I couldn't give an explanation of how they started. Other than both people have to be really good friends, high trust and respect - or it is REALLY awkward afterwards.

I think that was a movie not for the real world. It is impossible to sleep with anyone without communicating. The closest thing edgewise is soliciting prostitution but I don't understand your question completely. Doesn't this lead back to the old--- "make a move" pursuit!?

"Friends with benefits" sometimes happens at the mutual end of a close relationship between two people.

All relationships are habitual in that we get used to them and what they entail and it usually takes a while to "disengage" completely---hence extended occasions of sexual intimacy can occur.

The problem with sexual intimacy is that while it of course is fun, from the point of survival of the race, one of its natural side effects is to increase feelings of affection by the partners for each other which it usually does in the short run.

The problem is that such affection cannot be sustained by sexual pleasure alone over an extended period of time, so one or the other is most likely going to be "hurt."

Having said that, whatever occasions a "one night stand" can turn into a "friends with benefits" situation, but I'm not sure how many intellectual guidelines you can really set up for such a relationship.

Just some random thoughts from me---ignore if not helpful.

-Direct approach: "Wanna fluck?"
-Crappy loser approach: "I wanted to ask you something, but first, you must swear you won't get angry bla bla bla"
-"Gets you in jail 70% of the time" approach: Pull it out!

I'm playing with you. Honestly, the only way its gonna come out right is if you feel right about it. By the way, having my friend become my girlfriend was one of the best thing that ever happened to me...
