I don't mind at all. As long as it isn't a subject I detest, talk away !

Usually, I don't mind someone wanting to talk, especially if it gives me an opportunity to talk about current events and I get a chance to tie several events and their relationships to one another together.

Of course last week when I was doing some last minute shopping at Sam's Club, 15 minutes before closing time, one of the assistant managers wanted to follow me around yak-yak-yaking and I wound up checking out with less than 1/2 of what I intended to buy. I didn't like that very much.

Last year, I had a calendar printed by the same organization. Some of the snarky comments were really mean. I was disappointed not to be able to find a 2016 calendar like that.

That's good to know! I may do that next year. I went ahead and bought one already with a magnetic strip on back for my refrigerator. It's kind of plain.

I had a long commute to work by train -- over an hour -- but enjoyed it because I got plenty of reading done. One acquaintance liked to sit next to me and talk. That was something I didn't enjoy.

One morning I said to him, "When we die, Alex, God is going to lock us in a room together. I'll be trying to read and you'll be trying to start a conversation. It's going to be Hell for both of us." He got the message and shut up.

So do I like people trying to start a conversation? Depends who they are, what I'm doing, and whether they have something interesting to talk about.
