There was a person here the other day that said he/she was asexual. To be honest, I had to look it up to see what it was all about. I can't see why there would be any taboo about it as it doesn't seem bad, just a persons choice.

I consider myself Asexual due to the lack of sexual desire, lack of interest in dating and relationships etc... These are things that  i never cared about.. (even to this day, my parents still ask me when I'm gunna get a girlfriend and get married etc.. Im just not interested unless by that tiny chance that someone did come along that i fall in love with)

I wouldn't say its a choice since its not the same thing a abstinence. people are born straight, gay, bi etc... and some people are Asexual. i knew i was different when puberty happened... I see everyone else my age dating and talking about sex etc... it just never interested me.

Yeah I get your point. I'm gay so I know it is not a choice. But society always reacts badly to people that are outside the norm. That's why I think there's such a tabu about it. I don't want to have kids and when I say this no one believes me until I say that I'm gay. Why do they believe that only after knowing I'm gay? There's plenty of gays that want kids! I really don't understand society.

No taboo, just not much interest.

About 1.5% of males may be asexual while females, as with all female sexuality, vary greatly around marital status.

There is nothing wrong with that position from the bible's point of view. Taboo's usually come from personal feelings that are promoted by some group. The group believing that would best explain their rational in doing so and you then can decide whether to jump on the band wagon or find a suitable standard in life for yourself.

1) Yes there are.

2) I don't believe it's taboo, just that there's a great deal of ignorance around it. Some people are erroneously labeled "asexual" if they have a low sex drive, don't participate in what a biased individual would consider standard sexual acts in a timely manner, or simply if the person has no interest in sex with the person they're bonded with.

Asexuals simply have zero interest in sex. Ever.
