How much trouble can I get in for kicking someone in the side because he made fun of my mom? I'm in 8th grade.

EXTRA INFO: So I was playing football with some friends and this one kid who doesn't normally hang around us decided to eat his lunch and make fun of me. I just kinda shrugged it off and heckled at him back. Then he made fun of my mom so I let my emotions get the better of me and kicked him on the side (not very hard) just enough to to show I meant business and not to say those kinds of things. Then a couple of my friends pulled me away.

You could be in a lot of trouble. From a legal perspective, it isn't okay to do something physical to a person when what they did was verbal.

The blow could probably be seen and maybe he even took a selfie of the skin as proof, but you're lucky if you didn't damage an organ (for ex. A kidney). If you get hauled in try to learn from it.

8th grade is a hard age-  not the child anymore yet not an adult. So you don't have the routine-verbal tools to ward off any hecklers yet.

Ask an authority what you should have done.  Maybe it is legal to yank on his hair.

I hope you get an answer that helps you for now, but also in the long run.

A lot of trouble! .. You physically attacked someone ... Indeed you will be in trouble, and rightfully so.

You have a lot to learn about how to deal with someone who is hurling insults towards you .. Violence is NOT the answer. Who cares WHAT he said to make you mad or to hurt your feelings .. YOU are in control of how you deal with it. The moment you lash back on a physcial level .. All the power of the situation reverts back to the person you just attacked. THEY are now in control .. And could plausibly make your life miserable because now you are going to pay consequences with the law.
