Just like everyone here said, just ask him for it but you should probably try befriending him first. However if you are kinda scared to ask him straight up, I use this little trick and I say "oh hey do you have my number?" I know that they don't so then they say no and then I give them my number and it's only reasonable for them to then give me their number in return.
Why not try giving him your number if your want to be friends with him. If he doesn't call you know he's not interested then move on.

It rings .. Say oh guess it's working ... Now you have his number in your phone .. Add to contacts ... Sneaky !! Bam !
