Do You Wish That You Could Relive Your Life Sometimes?

I'm 78 years old. That's plenty old enough to look back and ask this very question.

Would I want to relive my life and make a few changes? Not a chance.

Some of it has been good, some bad, some exciting, some dull, some opportunities seized, some missed. So, yeah, improvements could have been made but, what if in making those improvements, in seizing those opportunities, I missed out on a course of action that would have led to so many of the happy times?

Like everybody else, I just played it as it seemed at the time and didn't waste time regretting bad judgement or missed opportunity. Omar Khayyam may have been thinking along those lines when he wrote, Take the cash in hand and waive the rest; nor heed the murmur of a distant drum.

No, I wouldn't. If you change all the bad stuff, you're not learning anything. I have many regrets but I wouldn't go back and change because now I know what to expect. (for example, my last relationship ended in an awful way and I was crushed. I have trust issues...) I'm smarter because of my past.

Not really. That would be cheating and pretty much ruins the very nature of life. Would I make smarter decisions? Probably. But if everything goes all perfect life becomes bland and you lose your humanity. Struggle is good.

No, not really. Too much hospital time.

Not at all. Have I made mistakes? Sure. Some regrets? A few. But they helped shape who I am, and I like who I am. The only thing I would change is to tell people that are no longer alive that I loved them. I lost some good friends over the years and some I never told them that.

I think everybody has moments when they wish they could go back and do things over.  Very few people would change nothing about their lives if they had the chance.

It's been said that "what if" are the two saddest words ever.
