Why is it when you confront a friend about someone talking about someone, he or she gets mad and blames you for telling it?

I don't know, its like a sudden shock like "wow.....your right" but its hard to admit it, so they'll get mad....I do that a lot....but I get over it and apologize if I exploded....but when I'm nice I'm super nice so...
