I'm 38 and recently split up with my husband. I am deliberately avoiding meeting new men and I can only take people in small doses. I do what I have to do in the way of interaction and then I just want to be left alone. Is this normal?

Not for most but it is becoming more and more necessary to be guarded and withdrawn from society. Society is failing as a whole and our personal lives suffer as af result. Nobody but you can decide if seclusion is best for you but you. You have experienced a life altering situation and being alone to process it all may be healthy. Especially if people (in general) are causing you discomfort.
