What Does Groping Mean?

Groping is a term often used with a sexual connotation. It is defined as touching the private parts of another person in an aggressive manner. The most groped parts of a person's body include the buttocks, the breasts, the testicles and the thighs. It is considered to be a form of sexual harassment or sexual abuse. This is because it is mostly done without the permission, consent or free will of the person who is being groped.

Incidents of groping are not uncommon when groups of men and women travel together by means of public transport such as trains and buses. In Japan, suburban trains are crowded and it is impossible to avoid the physical contact between men and women. Men and women use this to their advantage. To combat this problem, some operators of suburban train services have now started operating men only and women only cars in the trains, but people have found a way to continue to indulge in it despite having separate compartments for women in suburban trains.

To grope (for something) is a verb. The word to grope (for something) is defined as to look for something or feel about in an uncertain manner or blindly. Usually people grope for something when there is not enough light or when the room (where the object one is groping for is) is dark.

To grope basically means to search for something. The word grope also has a sexual connotation. It means to fondle (someone) in order to satisfy one's sexual desire or to derive some pleasure out of making sexual advances, usually accompanied by touching the other person in an indecent manner and making lewd and suggestive gestures, at a person.

Groping is basically an obscene term when used in this context. To grope someone is to indulge in the act or groping. Any instance of groping makes the one who is groped feel uncomfortable and want to call for help immediately.
