You should make it quite simple - something like this: 'Dear [boss name] As you may know I am getting married on [date]. I would like to request leave of absence for this date'. Then explain any arrangements you will make such as cover. (or if you want leave to celebrate your engagemet, it's the same basic wording but just explain that you will be celebrating your engagement on [date].)
