Look up some articles on dogs and show the parents. Tell them what an awesome chance this will be to prove how responsible you can be. It is an opportunity to learn responsibility. Kids who have pets and care for them make better workers later on. Caring for a pet reinforces compassion and makes for a more understanding person. Children with pets are less likely to get into trouble with the wrong kinds of kids. List the responsibilities of taking care of a dog, and demonstrate that you know how to do these things. Have them read my profile maybe not, but the part about interests. If you need some help let me know. I will change my profile to best show the rewards of owning a dog. Hope this helps. Oh , and tell them about all the really wonderful dogs and cats that never find a home and you know.....

Thanks a lot for that, but I've tried things like that before, and if I try to be serious about this with my parents, they usually just laugh and say no....but I guess I could try it again. :)
Thanks again, it really helped.

I say do your research on what type of dog you want and show that to your parents. You will have to commit time and energy in the upbringing/taking care of the dog. Walking, playing feeding and cleaning the dog are all things to remember that will fall under you. Sure your parents can help but the responsibility of taking the dog out each day for his/her walk and cleaning up after them is a routine that you can get used to as the dog does.

Just do you research and that will show some proof to your parents that you are serious about taking on a big responsibility.

It took me 2 years to convince them I finally did it. I begged and they know your responsible its like they don't trust you so what my dad did is he did a contract with all the stuff you had to do and then I signed it. Try saying that to him. Good luck with that and poppy that's what they called them before puppy just kidding!   :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Go onto a charity site and find the best looking dog you can find with all your criteria for one and show this to your parents and do not say any of the bad things about it and emphasize all the good things about him, if your parents fall in love with him/her the write loads of stuff about it and then leave it around, things like a price list are great then your mum will see that it may not cost as much then if you have any other pets try and take as much responsibility for the as possible then say after it all cor! That was quick and easy, if only there was an Extra animal around. Your Dad will think, hmm the responsibility can be nicely taken on your back and show you are a busy bee who just wants more responsibility. Tried and tested by me!

I have been through this situation a million times... "CAN I GET A DOG, MOM? CAN I GET A DOG, DAD?" No has always been the answer. I suggest you to probably just prove how good you are with pets. CLEAN, BATHE, GIVE LOTS OF LOVE... Thats what I did and I  got a chihuahua!!!

Well find the right time to get 1. Make sure your family agrees on one. Make sure the timeing is right for getting the dog. Don't be to pushy or you could get in trouble. I'm 7 I still don't have 1. So do more chores around the house then you usually do. Hope this helps

You could tell your parents that you would be responsible with the dog,and prove your responsibility.

Yeah I have an idea thats how I got a dog just beg till your parents can't take it anymore so just
relax. If you don't get a dog now you can get it when you move out how old are you by the way?
Do you want a little dog or a big dog? Just show youre parents all the games about pets that you play online
and then show them that you can take care of a pet

Say that you LOVE dogs and you would care for them, feed it, walk it, play with it, and I guess thats all I can say.

I had a little yorkshire terrier inside the house and it ripped everything and ruined the house and we sold it ;( I loved him though, so after a year my parents decided to get a Golden Labrador in the garden, because they saw how sad I was.

Do more chores, don't whine, that'll prove to them you don't have the nerve to care for a dog, treat your family as if their royal, do all their commands

Hey I want one too but my mum says that I am irresponsible and that if I do get one I will not take care of and she can't because she has my little brother to take care of  so she wont b able and she says that wen I get something I play with it for a few days and den I forget all about which is true but how could you possibly forget a living thing? She also says that we have to take it to the vet which is EXPENSIVE and wen we go on holidays who will take care of her/him/it so help me too cry cry cry cry

MUM is so right because I'm also a Mum and until you prove her wrong you will never get the pup, when you play with your toys do you put them back in their proper place or does mum have to pick up and clean up after you,and if she does make a change because you can't do it for a while and get tired and not do it anymore, so don't be a quitter and when you start something stick with it.....and perhaps the dog will come
