White blood cells are related with immune system. Their function is to fight against infection. Normal WBC levels in human are 4300-10800. A newborn has 12-15 times higher WBC than adult because he/she cries after birth and is under stress. This stress can cause increase in adrenaline leading to increase in WBC. After 2-3 weeks of birth, WBC levels go down to normal.
