I don't know where you live, but if you have an ice rink, you could go ice skating and escape the heat while you are at it. Course, I think you are probably looking for more than just the dinner and movie. How about a friendly carnival? Or a trip to the zoo? I am personally a huge fan of improve. It's a type of theatre that is made up on the spot (like Who's Line Is It Anyway, if you have ever seen that show). The audience gets to participate by shouting out ideas for the scene, so it is a fun way to get involved. Plus, since it is made up on the spot, you will never see the same show twice. Most improve is pretty inexpensive, and most dates will enjoy comedy. My boyfriend has been doing it for years, and I never get tired of going to see his shows.
