As soon as a young girl starts showing a larger chest and her breasts have started to develop, she will need a bra. Some young females are wearing bras as early as eight or nine, while some females develop more slowly and will not need a bra until they are 14 or 15. It depends on individual body development, hereditary influences as well as diet and exercise. Young girls who are especially athletic may experience a slower development than other girls their age. Hereditary influences determine much of the shape of a young girl’s body. If her grandmother and mother developed at an early age, then most likely she will as well. Diet will add pounds as puberty advances. Some people believe that this added weight is 'baby fat' when in reality it is the female body preparing to become fertile. Breast development is an indication that a girl’s body is becoming mature enough to become fertile. Smaller breasted women find that they do not have as many back problems as women who are large breasted. Large breasted women should always wear a support bra that helps take the weight of their upper body off of the upper and central part of the back.
My Story! X When I was 10 and half, my mum got me a set if crop tops to wear because I had bit bigger than breast buds and were showing through top. And I was going into year 6 (grade 6 I think) and I didnt want to be picked on- logic here? By Feb 2010 (Was just over 11) they were getting bigger and annoying when I jumped- My mum bought me a softcup 34A bra. To be fair, I didnt actually wear it for a while though. August 2010- Bigger and more annoying still 34A. Went shopping with gran on day, bought new one- was underwired btw, but comfy! It was white/cream with black dots! Was lightly padded too. Late August- School clothes shopping for new school! Aaaagh! School P.E tops- white REALLY see through, happened to be wearing my spotty one. Guess what happened next? Bra shopping. GULP! Got 4 more bras. 2 unpadded white bras 34A- p.e! Lol. BRIGHT blue one= lush! And black one with pink dots. And I am Still 11 wearing bras. I hat walking around without one, it's weird, except bedtime:)...... So guys, let your daughters wear them ONLY if necessary and make sure she is at least wearing sports/training by secondary! She will not want to be picked on for not having one.
I am actually 15 and I started wearing one 2 yeaars ago... I needed it when I wuz 10 .. But I wuz embarrased(I went through a lot sometimes I would wear aabout 3 shirts so nothing would show....)...I didn`t want to be made fun of ..so I would wear jackets ALLL the time...and I live in FLORIDA which didn`t help much ...lol (; it didn`t help in pe either..I would run or jog and I would feel pain and my breasts would move .... :/ if you needed it ..wear it ...everyone is different and just because some develop faster than others that doesn`t mean its "disgusting" this is part of life ... Yeaa you should but only if you need one , I started wearing one just as I turned 10 I'm 12 now and I'm a 34 A which is pretty big. I started with a 28 but didn't fully start wearin them till I was 10 1/4 because I then started sticking out.I'm actually quite annoyed because some person on yahoo answers said tht 12 yr olds don't have anything to wear a bra for but If I didn't it would really hurt and I'd b sticking out all over the place .
I think every age is acceptable, I just don't like it. I mean 8 year olds and 9 year olds could wear trainers if they really needed to. Ten year olds, trainers definatly! A girl should start to wear a bra when she begins to develop and her breasts start to need support. If that is younger than 11, so be it.
Crop tops are not bras, and can be quite pretty on little girls running around in the sunshine. They are also useful in teaching modesty, as the child is less exposed than they would be if running around with no top at all.
However, trying to sexualise children by putting them in garments more appropriate to women is a subtle form of child abuse. Let them be children while they still are children. No pre-pubescent child should be saddled with the problems and responsibilities that come with the onset of sexual maturity. A little girl should be a little girl, not a trainee sex object!
If the 9 year old's breasts are large then I would say yes. It can be awkward for a young girl to have large breasts and not have a bra to keep them under control, specially when being active. Maybe try a sports bra- they seem to be acceptable apparel for young women even if they don't have breasts.
EVERYONE GROWS AT A DIFFERENT RATE! It is only an absolute dim wit who would let their boobs flop due to age. I am 10 turning 11 in about 7 months I am in puberty and yes I wear a crop top. If a 9 year old has boobs get them a crop top and, SO BE IT!
I think they should at 11 because you begin to start high school then and you have to wear a see through blouse an at 8 if they really need a bra then yes but if they don't I think they shouldn't I think if the child really wants one then they should buy a crop top. An maybe at ten :)
It doesn't matter what age they are. It depends on how developed they are. I for example didn't wear a bra until 6th grade where as my little sister wore one in 3rd grade. I think that if they need one, no matter what age they are, they should be able to wear a bra.
It's not the age that matters. If the girl got boobs, she needs support and mom needs to support her too. I was nine when my boobs start to show and please let her wear a bra because it attracts attention to it already, no matter what the age. You don't know if a predator is looking at your little girl or not.

I think if they need one definately, puberty can start at ayoung age, if you just want to wear one just for no reason it would be good practice, just wear a training bra. When you think your ready try padded bras. If you need the support wear the wire padded bras. They are so much easier to wear for me. If they do have the wire when you lift un your arms the bra starts to come up and its embarrassing.
Well I'm 13 and NEED a 39a, but I'm still in a training bra because I don't want to ask my mom for one and I live with my dad and I'm definitely not asking him. When I was about 10, I had to get one, but my mom didn't notice/didn't buy me any. It was only after she talked with someone else (when I was around 11) that she went out and got me some training bras, and I wore those for about 2 - 3 years. I had to wear like 3 bras at a time: I was getting bigger and I was still wearing a training bra - it was pretty bad. She started getting me 36C's which worked for a little while, but of course, girls in puberty are still growing. I am now around a 36D, but my mom still assumes I'm a 36C. I have begun buying bras on my own with my own money. The point is, a girl needs a bra, but it all depends on her needs. There are tons of different options (I suggest Target for starters) for the 8 - 11 year olds who are just starting out. There were tons of girls my age who didn't really need one when I did. Everyone grows at different rates and starts at different times as well. Don't make the same mistake my mom did and think that a girl doesn't need one until a certain age!
When I was nine I started being self-conscience and I would wear layers, but I didn't get a training bra until I was like eleven. Everybody develops differently. Now I'm fifteen and I don't wear a bra except for when I play sports. Bras are uncomfortable and annoying, especially in warm weather.

It's not that young of an age since nowadays girls are developing very fast. As soon as their nipples show through their shirt buy them a training bra. Once they get into cup sizing buy them a shaped or lightly padded bra. And little girls should always wear a cami under their clothes.
okayy this may seem very weird or unusual but in fact it really depends , all children/teens/adults develop at different stages , sometimes faster , sometimes slower , so its quite normal if some children and fast bloomers at that age , and is quite appropriate to get a bra if they are already growing there at that age , some girls wear bras at the age for experience , or to just try it out , but it really depends

I started at 8....my teacher was about 2 tell my mom to buy me a bra....I am a 11 year old in a b36 size bra.....if you r uncomfortable, don't wear one...you do not have to...I am bigger than all my friends and for that reason all of my shirts r 2 tight.....one of my friends didn't realize this and called me a slut...I am also really curvy, my butt is huge, and on top of that, my hips just HAVE to be the hips that swing...I hate my body because guys think that I'm like 15 or something.

Of course they can....I started to wear a bra at the age of 9...my niece has started her periods and she is only 10...maybe the girl is going through the stage where she feels liek she is turning into a young adult....its never too early you know...mayeb start her off with a small one 28aa...or just a normal vest one...that may make her feel a little more compfortable...maybe all of her mates have started to wear them..its perfectly natural....girls usually turn more intelligent at the age of 9 , so maybe this is just a sign to say..she really is turning into a young lady..just let her wear a bra.. There is no exact age on where you wear a bra , everyone is different. For example my freind whos 13 has the flattest chest in the whole 8th grade class . Just because she is 13 doesnt mean she has to wear a bra ,, shes not ready yet.

And for teens I think its more appropriate if they wear training bra instead padded wire, push up etc. Sadly some companies sell not appropriate tween age bra. The age of wearing bras is 16 according to me and it is really abnotious of girls wearing at 11 and 12 and it spoils the happiness of their young age. Anyways the girl is going to wear a bra till her death and suffer the pain and uneasiness of it then why getting the pain at an enjoyable early age
